The smiley, smiley face, or happy face as it is sometimes known, is common a representation of a smiling human face, often represented as a yellow cirlce with two dots representing the eyes and a unfinished circle representing the mouth or gob as some would say. The word 'Smiley' is often used as a coined term for any illustrated emotion.
The earliest examples of the smiley are apparently done by a chap named Harvey Ball, who drew the face in 1963 for a USA insurance company. He never patented the smiley and thus never made any profit other tahn the initial $45 fee ooops.
In the Film Forest Gump Tom hanks wipes his dirty face on a T-shirt and the smiley T-shirt was born this is a fictional story but can you imagine if that really did happen how cool would that be!
The smiley has sprung up all over the globe in the form of text messaging and general writing displayed on forums, blogs, myspace, facebook you name it the smiley is constantly being used and adapted by many all over the world.
Some websites were setup to distribute smiley's via installing a program which had spyware, malware and sometimes viruses attached. This was an un-pleasant experience for the users of these programs which is why we setup i see smileys a huge free smileys resource used by many and loved by all.
